This week the Digital Leaders had an introduction to a new coding programme called Scratch. This half term we will all be making a jumping game which children can customise themselves. First we explored all the different characters (sprites) that could be used in the game and all the different backgrounds (backdrops) that could be chosen. We also explored the Events and Motion blocks and got our sprite to move steps from one side of the screen to the other. Next week will start to build the game.
“I think our class are really going to love this! I think the hardest part is logging in at the start, once you are in I remembered what else to do quickly.”
“There are so many sprites and backdrops to choose from! I can’t wait to make the game, I’m going to have a go at home.”
If you would like to try using Scratch at home you will need to ask an adult to make an online Scratch log in for you to use so you can save your projects. A free desktop version of Scratch can also be downloaded here.
