Introduction to MS Word @RRIS
This half term the digital leaders have had an introduction to MS Word, ready for their transition in to year 3. They have been typing out posters to use at their leavers assembly, letting the audience know what they would like to do when they grow up. First we practised our typing skills using the … Continue reading
Working with EYFS @RRIS
In the summer term all the year 2 children work closely with children from our reception classes to help introduce them to our computer suite. They work on a 1:1 basis, helping them to use their log in and how to access Simple City to start using their mouse skills. Lots of the year 2 … Continue reading
New Job Role @RRIS
After our first assembly introducing the new Digital Team and then designing the new logo, we came up with our new Job Role for 2021-22. We thought about our 6 Learner Values and how they would fit in with all the things we wanted the Digital Team to do in the next year. We think … Continue reading
Micro:bit Challenge @RRIS
Hello everyone! I was very lucky to receive one of these in the post today – it’s a BBC micro:bit (a very small mini computer!) As you can see in the picture it comes with a wire to connect it to a computer and a battery pack. These are amazing little computers and I would … Continue reading
Working From Home Challenge @RRIS

Pupil Technology Survey @RRIS
It is really important to know how to keep yourself safe when using a computer or tablet and so we created a survey for all the year 2 pupils to take to find out their habits when they weren’t at school. Completing our Board Games @RRIS
This week the Digital Leaders and Helpers have been working towards finishing off their board games. They have coloured the background and pathway, added text to selected squares, added clipart and a title – phew! We are really looking forward to getting them all printed out and playing them with all the year 1 children.
Board Game Outline @RRIS
“Today we used Textease to draw the outline of our board game. It was easy because the programme let us draw the straight lines easily. We saved it and next time we will colour it in.”
Online Safety Board Games @RRIS
Fresh from the Christmas break the Digital Leaders and Helpers were raring to go on the latest project of designing and making board games to remind the Yr 1 children about how to keep themselves safe on the computer or tablet (in fact with anyone they didn’t know well!) In the first session they drew … Continue reading
Tree Octopus Research @RRIS
This week the Digital Leaders and Helpers were doing a piece of research for year 1! The year 1 classes had heard all about a tree octopus and the website was a little bit too complicated for them, so they asked year 2 to help out. ” We looked at a website all about tree … Continue reading
