In Reception, most of the curriculum is not statutory. However, we are required to provide Religious Education for all pupils, including those in Reception classes. As a Norfolk maintained school, we are required to follow the Norfolk Agreed Syllabus for RE, 2019.
While most of the Early Years curriculum is not statutory, we do have a duty to assess and report on the Early Learning Goals at the end of the Reception year. In September 2021, new Early Learning Goals were introduced, along with some non-statutory curriculum guidance to help providers shape their curriculum. Of these documents, we find Birth to 5 Matters the most useful to support our planning, teaching and learning, as it aligns really well with our values and ethos.
The four principles of the Early Years Foundation Stage are hugely important to us. We take your unique child and believe that through positive relationships and enabling environments we can support them to reach their learning and development potential.
Please refer to our Inquiry Based Learning and Rec Road 50 Things pages to learn more about how we bring our curriculum to life.
