Susanna Manrique and Charlotte Tumber are here to support families when things go a bit wonky – it happens to all of us! We can signpost you to organisations who specialise in the support you need, help you to complete referrals and help you to find solutions that make sense for you. We are also very happy to have a chat and a cup of tea if you need a friendly ear and someone to talk things through with, no matter how big and scary they are.
Susanna Manrique
Assistant Head of School
(Wellbeing, Equity, and Engagement)
Designated Safeguarding Lead
Since joining Recreation Road in 2014 as a member of the Early Years and Senior Leadership Teams, I’ve had the privilege of contributing to the nurturing, inclusive environment that makes our schools unique. In January 2018, I took on the role of Assistant Head, focusing on pastoral care and wellbeing, and last year my role expanded to include oversight of wellbeing, equity, and engagement across both our infant and junior schools. Working with shared families across our federation allows me to build long-term relationships, and I’m proud to be part of each child’s seven-year journey with us from early years all the way through to Y6 and the transition to secondary school.
My responsibilities include supporting pupil, family, and staff wellbeing, organising family events and serving as the Designated Safeguarding Lead. I am also the Designated Teacher for Looked After Children, a Mental Health Champion, Mediation Champion and Domestic Abuse Champion. I am also currently undertaking a diploma in Trauma Informed Practice.
Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my family, friends and our large, friendly tabby cat, Stanley. My 16-year-old son is a proud Rec Road and Avenue Junior alumnus . I play the violin in 2 local orchestras and when I’m not making music, you’ll find me cooking, gardening, doodling and reading.
Charlotte Tumber
Family Engagement Officer
I have worked in the education sector since 2013, which includes teaching within a specialist needs setting and providing specialist needs support within a Specialist Resource Base for neurodiverse pupils. I now work at Recreation Road as your Family Engagement Officer. My role is to support every child and their family in overcoming any barriers to their learning and wellbeing; I understand that some hurdles may feel bigger than others.
I have a neurodiverse daughter who is obsessed with Minecraft. In our free time we like to get outdoors to explore and attempt new things, if I can pull her away from her Switch! I have the best doggo called Riley who is an 8 year old German Shepherd who loves long walks and tennis balls. I am a huge plant fan and I enjoy a good book.
